5/5/22: Davenport West High Band under the direction of Mrs. Maggie Oates and Mrs. Courtney Long represented the state of Iowa at the 100th Anniversary of the Lincoln Memorial in Washington D.C. April 20-24, 2022. They performed a feature concert at the Iwo Jima War Memorial under beautiful blue skies on April 22nd. On April 23rd the band joined 10 other states in a ceremony to celebrate the 100th Anniversary of the Lincoln Memorial.
4/11/22: Congratulations to all West Band Students who performed at the IHSMA Solo and Ensemble Contest! West Band received a total of six Division II "Excellent" ratings and nine Division I "Superior" ratings. A HUGE congratulations to the Percussion Quartet comprised of: Peyton Flynn, Nathan Hagedorn, Ian Keeney, and Camden Richgruber for earning a Perfect Score and receiving Best in Center. They will perform in Ames on Tuesday, May 17th with all the other Best in Centers from around the state of Iowa. A special "thank you" to all our volunteers who helped make the event run so smoothly. West Is Best!!!
Letter to Incoming 9th Grade Band Students and Parents
1/29/22: Congratulations to the Davenport West High Jazz Band! Saturday, January 29th they performed at the IHSMA State Jazz Contest and were awarded a Superior Division I rating! They received Straight Division I ratings from all 3 judges!!! Way to go West!
1/24/22: Congratulations to Kamrin Varela (flute), Peyton Flynn (percussion), Caleb Killing Matthews (trumpet), and Gavin Fowler (euphonium) for their acceptance to the Southeastern Iowa Bandmasters Association (SEIBA) High School Honor Band!!! These students were selected for the honor band from a competitive audition and participated in the clinic this past Saturday at Clear Creek Amana High School. Way to go West!!!
