Learn More About Buffalo Elementary School from Principal Heidi Gilliland

It’s going to be a great year at Buffalo Elementary School! The 2020-2021 school year will be exciting and full of growth. I am excited to take this journey with the families, students, staff and the Buffalo community as part of the Davenport Community School District! Buffalo Elementary is has fully implemented a STEAM (Science Technology Engineering Art and Math) approach and has become an open campus for students interested in a hands-on learning environment that facilitates independence through problem solving, exploration, collaboration and more! In addition to using a project-based approach for some of our learning, we are in the 3rd year of implementing Iowa’s first SmartLab! We call it the STEAM Lab, where we will experience collaboration, problem solving, critical thinking and more! In our lab we will have opportunities to work with robotics, architecture pieces, engineering, coding, graphic arts and so much more!

I am committed to making Buffalo Elementary the best experience for our students, staff and families through upholding the mission and vision statements of both Buffalo Elementary and the DCSD with an amazing team! We are on this new journey together, and together, we will make it great!
