Central Highs School Arts & Music
Davenport Central has produced many fantastic artists and musicians, and we pride ourselves on having a place for all students to participate in the Fine Arts. We are fortunate to have administrators, teachers, and coaches committed to making Fine Arts a part of your well-rounded education. Our music department is well-renowned, and our artists have been entering their works into competitions for years.
Davenport Central Fine Arts Strengths and Accolades:
- 5 students selected for the Iowa Junior Honors Orchestra
- 5 students selected for the Southeast Iowa String Teachers Association Honor Orchestra
- 4 students selected for the Iowa String Teachers Association State Orchestra
- The Davenport Central High School Wind Ensemble was selected to provide a clinic and perform at the Iowa Bandmasters Association Convention. Only the top band programs in the state are selected through an intensive audition process
- The Marching Blue Devils received an official invitation from the Lord Mayor of London to perform in the 2022 London New Year’s Day Parade.
- The Marching Blue Devils were, once again, undefeated in competition in Iowa!
- The Central Band Program had four students selected to the All-State Band as well as a student selected to the 4A All-State Jazz Band.
- The Marching Blue Devils finished 8th in the nation in their class at the Bands of America Grand National Championships!
- Show Choir had 3 Grand Championships, 3 Best Choreography, 2 Best Vocals, and 2 Best Band during their competitive season.
- Eight students were selected for the prestigious 2020 North Central American Choral Director's Association Honor Choir. It is the first year for our participation
- The Choral Program continues to see consistent growth, both in student participation and in quality of performance. Our Men's and Women's ensembles saw the highest amount of student enrollment this year.
