    100 Black Men Club Present at DCSD Board Meeting

     100 Black Men Quad Cities-Stanley Moore Mentoring Program President, Michael Cole provided an overview of the Stanley Moore Mentoring Program. He indicated that Jim Hester served as one of the Presidents of the organization. He explained there are over 200,000 chapters nationwide.     6th Grade Orchestra Shines in Finale Concert

    What’s the Buzz all about?! Why it’s the 2014 Geography Bees!

    The National Geographic Bee is a nationwide contest to encourage the teaching and study of geography.  Bee questions are designed to test a student’s knowledge of geography and may require interpretation of maps, graphs, and photographs.  Landen Taylor took first place and in second place was Timothy O’Leary.   Along with his certificate he also received a medal.     7th Graders Explore the Nahant Marsh

    The week of May 12th  all 7th grade science students we invited to partake in an authentic lab experience at Nahant marsh.  Students examined the health of our local environment by searching for biological indicators in the waters of Nahant marsh.  Students were able to determine by the number and variety of species that our local marshland is Read more

    “Wood Intermediate, along with other elementary and middle schools in the district, attended the Showcase of Learning and Applied Science this past Saturday, May 17th at the Public Works Building.  The top twenty groups from Wood’s sixth grade were selected to present their different projects which focused on water quality in our community.  Way to go, scientists!”
