QCA Resources and Programs

Below you will find various resources and programs offered by organizations in the Quad City Area.

Smart’s Referral for Assistance Form:

In need of assistance of obtaining food, clothing, housing, employment resources, education, utilities, and/or mental health services for adults? Then please complete the form linked below so we can begin to have the conversation on how we can help.

Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program:

If families qualify for the Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP), it will pay for part of winter heating costs. It can also help prevent disconnection during the winter and repair broken furnaces.

McKinney-Vento Act Assistance/Information:

If you or your family is living doubled up with other people due to loss of housing or economic hardship; in a motel or campground due to lack of an alternative adequate accommodation; in a shelter; in a car, park, abandoned building, bus or train, then your child may qualify for certain rights and protections. Farmer to Families Food Box Distribution:

When: Fridays 11:00am – 4:30pm or until all boxes are handed out. Beginning Friday, February 12, 2021, and continuing until further notice.

What: Distribution of USDA boxes including healthy foods from all five food groups.

Where: City of Davenport Florian Keene Parking Lot, in front of Modern Woodmen Park. Enter the lot at the River Drive entrance at the traffic light on Western Avenue. 

How: Drive Up/No Touch pick up. No ID required. Just tell the volunteers how many boxes you need.

Double Up Food Bucks – 2021 Double Up Food Bucks Update:

As of January 1, customers are able to earn and spend Double Up Food Bucks between January 1 – March 31, 2021.

Simply bring your SNAP EBT card to a participating location to use the program. For every $1 you spend on any fresh fruits and vegetables with your SNAP EBT card,  you will get $1 in Double Up Food Bucks. Spend your Double Up Food Bucks right away or save for another visit. In 2021, Double Up Food Bucks will expire quarterly – check the expiration date on the bucks.

The website states that Fareway is participating, and Hy-Vee is “coming soon.” It appears Freight House is also a participating location.

Lasagna Love:

Lasagna Love is a nationwide grassroots movement that aims to positively impact communities by connecting neighbors with neighbors through homemade meal delivery. We also seek to eliminate stigmas associated with asking for help—especially from moms— when it is needed most.

Community Action of Eastern Iowa’s Utility Bill Assistance Program:

Low-Income Heating and Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP) applications are being accepted for households with elderly and/or disabled members beginning October 1,2020. All other low-income household applications for assistance will open on November 1, 2020.

Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA)

Schedule your appointment now. Tax prep begins on January 26, 2021.

The VITA Program provides free income tax return preparation for taxpayers earning up to $57,000 annually. VITA helps working families take advantage of all eligible tax credits, including the Earned Income Tax Credit (EITC), Child Tax Credit (CTC) and education credits. Volunteers from the community help prepare basic, current year tax returns for eligible taxpayers free of charge. 

Please Mask Up: All volunteers and sites will enact health and safety best practices to prevent the spread of illness.
