Robotics Team Season Recap

Davenport West High School’s FIRST Robotics Competition (FRC) team, Disruptive Innovation #6317, demonstrated their engineering excellence and collaborative spirit at two regional events this season: the Hawaii Regional and the Phantom Lakes Regional in Mukwonago, Wisconsin.

Hawaii Regional Highlights: Competing among 33 teams at the Hawaii Regional, Disruptive Innovation qualified in 8th place, securing the opportunity to serve as an alliance captain in the double-elimination tournament. Ultimately selected by the #4 alliance, the team won their first match, but fell in the subsequent two rounds, exiting in the third round of playoffs.

Disruptive Innovation was honored with the Team Sustainability Award, sponsored by Dow, in recognition of their international outreach project bringing clean water access to a remote village in Kenya.

While in Hawaii, team members experienced a traditional luau, visited Pearl Harbor and the USS Arizona Memorial, and toured Waialua High & Middle School, home of Hawaiian Kids, FRC #359.

Phantom Lakes Regional Recap: At the Phantom Lakes Regional, Disruptive Innovation qualified 15th out of 39 teams and was selected by the #7 alliance captain. Their alliance faced a tough bracket, losing the first round, bouncing back in the second, but ultimately being eliminated in the third.

Season Summary: Across both regionals, the team achieved an overall record of 16-13, showcasing strong technical and strategic performance throughout the season.
