Weapon Detection and Door Monitoring Systems
The Davenport Community School District remains committed to ensuring a safe learning environment for all of our students. At Monday’s school board meeting, the Davenport School Board approved the purchase of weapons detection and door monitoring systems across all middle and high schools in the district. These systems will supplement our current security measures and will be used to screen students, staff, and visitors.
DCSD continually evaluates and enhances its safety protocols to provide a secure atmosphere for learning. The addition of these detection systems is designed to further deter potential threats and provide an extra layer of protection for both students and staff.
An implementation team has been established, with representatives from each middle and high school. This team will collaborate with building administrators and campus security personnel to develop a strategy for installing and effectively utilizing the weapons detection systems across our secondary schools.
We anticipate the installation of these systems may begin as early as the 4th quarter of this school year. In the meantime, the district will pilot mobile systems in select buildings throughout the winter to refine our practices and ensure the best outcomes for our school community.
Thank you for your continued support as we work together to enhance the safety of our students and staff.
