Springer Family Iowa State University Dreamer Engineering Scholarship

The Springer Family established this four-year scholarship (not endowed) in 2023, knowing firsthand the career path an engineering degree provides for hardworking students, having had several family members graduate from the Iowa State engineering program.

Amount of Scholarship: The scholarship donation of $16,000 is awarded to a recipient at $4,000 per year, renewable annually for an additional three years as long as the student continues as an engineering major at Iowa State with a minimum GPA of 2.5. The award will be announced at the winner’s school award program in May.

Deadline: Application deadline is March 1, on or before 11:59 P.M.
Need Basis: Given high consideration. FASFA required.
Qualifications: Applicants must be African American, low income, defined as qualifying for free and reduced lunch programs and have graduated from Central, North, West or Mid-City High School by June 30. Students with considerable financial need are encouraged to apply. A minimum 2.75 GPA and a FAFSA filed with the application are required. In addition, a letter of recommendation is required from a technology instructor.
