The Davenport Community School District provides preschool at the following locations:

Children’s Village Hoover | Half Day and Full Day Classes (3 and 4 year old)

Children’s Village West | Half Day and Full Day Classes (3 and 4 year old) 

Buffalo Elementary School | AM Class (4 year old)

Hayes Elementary School | PM Class (4 year old)

Truman Elementary School | Both AM and PM Classes  (4 year old)

DCSD proudly participates in the Statewide 4 Year Old Voluntary Preschool Program. This program provides half day preschool at no cost to eligible 4 year olds. The children attending this program must be a resident of the State of Iowa, and turn four either on or before September 15th of the current school year.

For those not participating in the statewide preschool program, you will find program costs listed below.

Ways to Submit Payment. 

Payments for the 25-26 School Year will not be accepted until July 7, 2025.

First payment is required before first day of attendance.

The Child Nutrition Program offers nutritious breakfasts and lunches at every school building. Proper nutrition is fundamental for the success of academic programs. Our meals meet the new USDA Nutrition Standards, which requires the following:

• Age-appropriate calorie limits
• Larger servings of vegetables and fruits (students must take at least one serving)
• A wider variety of vegetables, including dark green and red/orange vegetables and legumes
• Fat-free or 1% milk (flavored milk must be fat-free)
• More whole grains
• Less sodium

Iowa school districts are encouraged to expand the preschool program to include community partners in order to deliver the preschool program through a mixed delivery system. Community partners must be within the boundaries of the district and maintain program requirements.

• Iowa Licenced Early Childhood Teacher
• Minimum of 10 instructional hours per week 
• Maximum class size of 20 students, with a 1:10 ratio 
• Assess all students utilizing Teaching Strategies GOLD Assessment
• Maintain fiscal accountability

Students enrolling in the FREE four-year-old voluntary preschool program must meet two requirements:

1. Students MUST reside in the State of Iowa (preschool does not follow district home-school boundaries, so you can register at the school you wish)
2. Students MUST be four years old on or before September 15 of the school year they wish to enroll. For the 2025-2026 school year, students must be age 4 on or before September 15, 2025.

Free four-year-old preschool is offered through both district elementary schools and a number of community partner preschools that operate independently, yet coordinate with the Davenport Community Schools to provide consistent and comparable programming. All programs meet the requirements set forth by the Iowa Department of Education for the Statewide Voluntary Preschool Program.

For students that do not reside in Iowa and/or meet the age requirement, tuition is the responsibility of the parent/guardian.

Please Note

Students may not attend FREE four-year-old preschool for two years.

Students may not attend FREE four-year-old preschool if they are five on or before September 15, 2025.
