Inclement Weather Guidelines and School Closings

The Davenport Community School District wants to help families stay prepared for inclement weather. Here's what you need to know about school closings and delays:

If school is cancelled or delayed, the district will notify families via the messaging system, post updates on the website and social media, and inform local news outlets. Make sure your contact information is up-to-date in Parent Portal to receive these updates.

Major news outlets share information on emergency delays, early dismissals and cancellations, including KWQC TV-6WQAD TV-8WHBF TV-4, and the QC Times.

The District must make one decision that is most appropriate for more than 12,000 students across four communities. We recognize that this decision may not always fit with individual circumstances. Therefore, we support our parents in making the decision that is best for their child on inclement days when school has not been delayed, released early, or canceled due to weather.

Announcements of DCSD weather-related decisions are communicated by the District Communications Office through local media outlets and the messaging system.

Announcements of building activity and athletic event decisions are communicated by individual buildings and coaches.
