Fine Arts
Performing arts
Elementary:
In all elementary schools, every student participates in general music on a regular basis throughout the year. Schoolwide programs give students the opportunities to showcase their musical exploration, learning, and talent multiple times throughout the year. In addition to their regularly scheduled music class, students can join performing ensembles with more performance opportunities such as orchestra (starts in fourth grade), band (starts in fifth grade), and choir (starts in fifth grade). We believe in giving students as many opportunities for fine arts as possible and work diligently to make a schedule that allows students to engage in as many ensembles and activities as possible, they do not have to choose!
Middle School:
In all middle schools, all students have exposure to music every year. They can engage in general music that continues to build on understanding and appreciation, which foundations are established in elementary schools. Or, students may participate in curricular ensembles, including band, choir, and orchestra. Ensembles will include performance opportunities at the school, in district wide events, and possible additional opportunities including show choir and jazz band. Students can be in multiple ensembles or can be in ensembles and general music if so desired.
High School:
In high school, all students are welcome to join any curricular performing art including band, choir, orchestra, theatre, jazz band, marching band, and show choir, offered at North, Central, and West High Schools. Along with school performances, additional opportunities for performance are available such as district wide events, all-state opportunities, solo and ensemble, and honor ensembles. Our high school performing arts are incredibly high achieving and award winning programs open to everyone! As is for elementary and middle school performing arts, students can be in multiple ensembles and activities, they do not have to choose!
