Steps to Success

The Davenport Community School District strives to ensure that all students are prepared for their postsecondary goals.

Whether a student plans to attend a four-year college, enlist in the armed services, or begin their career after graduation, DCSD is committed to supporting students as they take the next step in planning for their future.

In order to best support our students in their postsecondary goals, DCSD will be launching a week of capstone testing called Steps to Success Week for all DCSD High School Juniors. Steps to Success will be held this year from April 1-3. During this week, students will take one assessment that matches their postsecondary plans and participate in activities to inspire them to plan for their postsecondary goals.

Test Type Who Should Take This Test?
ASVAB The ASVAB is used to identify a person's strengths and aptitudes in order to help them find a career that's a good fit.  ASVAB scores are used to determine if you are qualified to enlist in the military. But, you do not need to be interested in going into the military to take the ASVAB as a method to explore careers.
ACT ACT assesses a student's readiness for college. Although many colleges are test-optional, most use standardized tests for course placement. Multiple scholarship opportunities require an ACT score. Please, note that the Military Academies and Ivy League schools require a standardized test for admission.
ALEKS The Assessment and Learning in Knowledge Spaces (ALEKS) placement exam is used for placement in algebra, precalculus, calculus, and general chemistry. ALEKS can be a gauge in deciding college math placement.
WorkKeys WorkKeys can help you determine, build and measure essential workplace skills that can increase opportunities for career changes and advancement. WorkKeys is a career readiness test used for students entering the workforce directly from high school.
