JB Shines at National History Day

JB was wonderfully represented at the AEA9 Regional National History Day Competition held at St. Ambrose University last night, March 19, 2007.  All students were winners in that they completed their projects and presented their research findings to the judges.  Josie Mumm and Mackenzie House’s documentary “The Titanic – A Human Tragedy and a Triumph in Maritime Law” was one of the top five documentaries presented.  They made it to “call backs” and to the finals.

JB’s triumphs continued with Brenna Guard’s historical document on Biddy Mason and Jackie Howard’s Exhibit Board, “The Polio Panic.”  Both of these students qualified for the state competition in Des Moines on April 30.

Other students and their topics:

Tyler Hurst: “Remember the Alamo”

Meghan Essary: “The 1919 Chicago Black Sox”

Bailey Keimig, Alexis Ahmed and Samantha Adrales: “The 1918 Spanish Influenza Pandemic.”

All of the students are to be commended for their fine work.  This regional competition was the largest ever, according to the Competition Director.  Over 270 projects were entered into the competition, ranging from exhibit boards to documentaries to presentations to papers.  If you see one of them, congratulate them.  They deserve it!
