Grade Iowa Stories:
An Interview with Ms. Ortega
Iowa Stories is a project which evolved from literacy initiatives put in place by Christie Vilsack, wife of the Governor of the State of Iowa. This is the District's third year of participation. This year's theme is Hispanic-Americans in the Quad Cities.
This project entails:
· Each student is expected to read a book about Hispanic-Americans.
· Students will interview a senior citizen from the Davenport area who has lived in the QC for many years to hear their memories of the Hispanic-American migration to the area.
· Students will do a project depicting what they have learned: a paper, a media project or PowerPoint, script, poem, and a display board.
