Getting Ready for the Competition
Dave Heinrichs, St . Ambrose's Dr. Tom Hill, and I accompanied nine sixth graders from JB to the First LEGO League Robotics competition in Ames, Iowa, last Saturday. In my opinion we couldn’t have been with a better group of students on a trip. I’d go anywhere with them again. They were well-behaved, and JB should be proud of how well they represented the school and their families.
The
students who went on the trip were Samantha Adrales, Crystal Bell, Cassandra
Dowell. Shannon Hare, Travis Hattery. Elijah Mayfield, Bailey Robinson, Jacob
Stewart, and Torrie Ervin. If you see them, tell them you heard they did a
great job. They did. Thanks,
THE COMPETITION
The competition was exciting, and a great learning process took place. Not only did the students participate in three rounds of robotic competition, but also they were interviewed about various aspects of preparing for the competition. They also presented a PowerPoint presentation about research they did regarding a public building and its handicap accessibility. They chose our school, JB Young. I’m positive that they would be happy to present the PowerPoint to anyone who would want to see it.
