Mrs. Swift - English

Ms. Moss-Farnan - American Studies

I am a graduate of Mount Mercy College in Cedar Rapids, Iowa and hold a Masters Degree from St. Ambrose University here in Davenport.  I have 2 sons, both graduates of Davenport Schools.  I enjoy reading, walking and gardening in my free time and someday I hope to have my own greenhouse.

Mrs. Gehret- Science

My name is Erin Hayek and I am the 8th grade science teacher on the Nebula’s team.  This will be my fourth year teaching at Wood Intermediate School but my first year teaching out of our brand new textbooks.  The sciences that the students will be studying this year are physical science, physics, and chemistry.  I am really looking forward to the new resources that have come with our books.

I am a graduate of Central High School and the University of Northern Iowa.  I graduated college with a B.A. in Elementary Education, Middle School Education, Middle School Endorsement, and a Mathematics Minor.  I am currently taking classes at Western Illinois to expand my knowledge about the science programs and I am working for my Elementary School Masters with a Science Endorsement.

I have a 4 year old son who means everything in the world to me!  He is going to be the next All-Star in major league baseball.  I also have a German Shepard and 3 adorable kitties.  The six of us just purchased our new home one week before school began and my next project is to work out my wedding plans for July 14th, 2007.  My hobbies, when I have free-time, are camping, traveling, and watching/collecting movies.  My passion is working with 8th graders and watching their light bulb turn on in their brilliant scientific minds.

Mrs. Bartel - Special Education

I received my BA from Western Illinois University in Macomb, Illinois and have my Master's degree from Nova University in Fort Lauderdale, Florida.  Over the years I have taught in Illinois, Florida, and Iowa as a special education teacher.

My husband and I currently live in Erie, Illinois.  I enjoy reading and listening to books as well as working with stained glass.
