Mrs. Ramos - Language Arts

This is my second year at Wood Intermediate. Previously I worked for nine years as an elementary school teacher. It's amazing to be living my dream of teaching Language Arts at the middle school level. I am well aware of my responsibility to be a positive role model in every way for my students. Through reading and writing, I am given many opportunities to teach and model life skills each day. It is a position that I respect and honor. One day, I hope to write a book with awesome illustrations by my daughter who is an art teacher. I also feel blessed to have a wonderful, loving, and supportive family in my husband, three children, and mother. Recently, our daughter married her best friend. It was a celebration of Joy for our family. Our sons are entering the home stretch of their college years. One day, upon retirement, my husband and I want to backpack Europe. We enjoy our family, camping, traveling, tennis, sharing times with friends, UTHS volleyball, and Augustana baseball.

Mrs. Mickelson - Resource

My name is Mrs. Mickelson.  I am the new 7th grade resource teacher.  I graduated from the University of Northern Iowa in 2000, and have been a guest teacher in the Davenport schools for a few years.  I grew up in Eldridge, and currently reside in Davenport with my husband Shandon, my 3-year-old son TJ, and my 1-year-old son Ty.  Oh yeah, I better not forget my dogs Lady and Prince.  When I am not busy chasing my two, vivacious young boys I enjoy reading, scrap booking, watching football (Go Bears!), and spending time outdoors.  I look forward to a great year, and getting to know more of the Wood students.

Ms. Anderson - Reading

My name is Laura Anderson.  I earned a BA from Loras College in Dubuque, IA with Elementary Education and an endorsement in reading.  This is my fifth year teaching and my third year teaching 7th grade reading at Wood Intermediate.  In my spare time I like spending time with my family and friends, especially my little sister Rachel.  I also like playing sports, grilling out, and watching movies.  I have enjoyed coaching both softball and volleyball over the last three years and I currently coach 9th grade volleyball.  Please feel free to contact me about your son/daughter’s progress in reading.  I am looking forward to a wonderful year at Wood!
