5th Grade Band at Wilson
Students have the opportunity to enroll in band when they are about to enter 5th grade. During the spring of 4th grade all students are given the opportunity to express their interest in participation, and are shown the instruments offered at the beginning band level. The interested students are given information to help them acquire the instrument and supplies necessary for participation. Students can choose to start their instruction in August during the Summer Program run by the Davenport Schools, or begin their band experience in the fall of 5th grade.
Once enrolled in band at Wilson students receive a weekly individual lesson during the school day, and participate in a group band experience that meets after school each week. The group band rehearsals prepare the students for the concerts they perform in the winter and spring.
