7th AND 8th GRADE CHORUS

The 7th and 8^th Grade Choirs are offered during the day as a class and have approximately 315 students participating this year.  These groups study a wide selection of vocal styles and music from different eras and cultures.  The instructional focus is on preparing these young singers to go on to the high school choirs using good vocal techniques and rehearsal skills.  The groups performs twice a year at the Winter and Spring Concerts and 8th graders attend a Broadway musical annually at Circa 21.

SHOW CHOIR

The Williams Show Choir has a longstanding tradition of being a fun and award-winning group.  This group is made up of select 7^th and 8^th grade chorus students, who won one of the 44 spots available this year.  Over 150 students audition for this group every year.  We focus on not only singing, but performing with choreography as well.  This group sings mainly pop and show tunes.  We have performed annually on the KWQC’s Choirs of Christmas and at the Festival of Trees as well as other venues, finishing off our season at the Winter and Spring concerts.  This group competes annually in Chicago at the one of the many festivals offered in the spring and has brought back tops honors for many years.

JAZZ CHOIR

The 2004-2005 school year is the first for the Williams Vocal Jazz Choir.  This select ensemble  rehearses Tuesday and Wednesday mornings in the chorus room from 8:00 to 8:45.  Under the direction of Mr. Werner, the Jazz Choir has performed three times already this year with several more performances to come including our Spring concert on May 26th.  Also this May, the group will travel with the Show Choir to Chicago for the Music Showcase Festivals competition at Six Flags Great America.   

6th GRADE CHORUS

The 6^th Grade Chorus is opened to all 6^th grade students and rehearses twice weekly after school.  This group exposes the students to reading choral music and performing in a group at various places.  We sing a variety of music and occasionally add choreography to our pieces.  This group has performed at the Festival of Trees, Williams Honors Awards assemblies and on the Winter and Spring concerts for Williams.  The 6^th Grade Chorus is preparing to rehearse and perform a musical for the second semester this year.
