Response to Intervention
Response to Intervention is a process that schools use to help children who are struggling academically or behaviorally. The Davenport Community Schools use “data teams” of teachers at the school level to examine student work and assessment data to identify and better serve the needs of students having poor learning outcomes. These teams establish a plan for evidence-based interventions and monitor student progress, adjusting the intensity and nature of those interventions as needed to improve student learning.
Response to Intervention activities include small group and individual assistance at different times before, during and after school. We will also attempt intervention activities on Tuesdays after school for one hour, during Saturday school from 8:30 – 11:30 every other Saturday, as well as our school-wide Mini-Mod sessions on Wednesday afternoons. Please contact your child’s teachers to express interest in additional interventions.
