Suggested Steps to Student Success:

bulletBelieve in yourself!
bulletSeek the help of any staff member if you find yourself having problems; we can't help if we don't know.
bulletBe prepared with all necessary materials.
bulletLook for someone you can help in school. We are part of a team that is working for success.
bulletGet involved. At Williams we have many recognition and reward programs and these help make school a great experience!

Student Rights

bulletEvery person has the right to be treated as an exceptional human being. By being a student at Williams, you can expect these things:
bulletThe right to an education (teachers should be free to teach and students free to learn without being interrupted by inconsiderate or disruptive students).
bulletThe right to be safe in school and to have personal and school property respected.
bulletFreedom from physical abuse and/or mental abuse such as name calling, intimidation, harassment, or vulgar language. Swearing and use of inappropriate language are not acceptable. Discipline will be in compliance with school and district policy.
bulletThe right to be respected, and the right to privacy and freedom.
bulletThe right to develop one's own personality (as long as it does not interfere with the rights of others).

High Expectations - High Student Achievement

bulletDuring this time of your life, EDUCATION is your career. Coming to school is your job and your basic job expectations are as follows:
bulletBring proper SCHOOL SUPPLIES to class daily.
bulletTake your PLANNER to each class daily.
bulletKnow which classes require SPECIAL MATERIALS. Be responsible for taking those materials to each appropriate class.
bulletBe prepared and complete all HOMEWORK assignments.
bulletBe responsible for LEARNING at school. Learning is your first responsibility. It is great to have friends but you should not socialize during class time. Socializing interferes with both learning and the general atmosphere of the classroom.
bulletPut forth your best EFFORT at all times.

Homework

Homework provides excellent opportunities for developing good study habits, providing for individual differences and abilities, and encouraging self-initiative on the part of the student.

Parents, students, and the school share the responsibility for student learning. Parents can assist their child(ren) with homework by:

bulletproviding a study area free of distractions with good lighting;
bulletasking questions about the content of student homework;
bulletgiving requested assistance, but letting the student do his or her own work;
bulletavoiding undue pressure; and
bullethelping create a "homework habit" at the same time each night.
Williams believes that parental involvement in student's homework is essential to making homework an integral part of the educational program. Parents should encourage and monitor homework assignments.
Homework assignments will be graded and included in each student's quarterly grade.

Character Counts

This program shows our students that a person of character thinks right and does right according to core universal values that define the qualities of a good person: trustworthiness, respect, responsibility, fairness, caring and citizenship. Character lessons are taught individually and during teachable moments.
