    Any boy interested in swimming this year, please come to a short informational meeting today in room 263 right after school.  I will be handing out practice schedules along with other information.  Again, the meeting is today around 2:05 in room 263 for boys swimming.  Thanks and see you there, Coach Wells. 

    German Club is going to the Christmas Schooner and the German Christmas market in Chicago.  Bring your forms and money as soon as you can.  Seats are filling fast! 

    All students attending Thespian Festival must have their money in by this Friday, October 20th

    Attention, anyone who plans to volunteer or participate in the Falcon Friends Bench Press Competition on Saturday, November 4, must turn in your entry forms by Wednesday, October 25th. Forms are available in the Athletics Office. Thank you!

    ATTENTION ALL STUDENTS:  Remember that finals s are tomorrow and Friday. You must be in your classroom by 8:40am in order to take your exam.  If you are late, you will not be able to take your exams until the afternoon. 

    On Friday, October 13, the first issue of the Beak ‘n’ Eye was released;  included were two voice columns “Liberal Arts left in the shadows” and “#BloodOnOurFingertips.” The student-run newspaper and website are public forums, which means that readers are encouraged to respond to the ideas published by submitting letters to the editor. The Beak ‘n’ Eye staff wants to hear from you in a Letter to the Editor format. Newspaper staff welcomes responses from the student body, staff, and administration. 

    Email Mrs. Hansen or see her in Room 202 for Letter to the Editor guidelines. If interested, please submit responses to the authors by Friday, October 20.

    Central Church of Christ, 4900 Northwest Blvd, Davenport, is having a Winter Coat Giveaway on Saturday, October 21st from 8am to Noon.  One free coat per person; you must be present to receive a coat.  Come early for the best selection.   

    Congratulations to the Boys and Girls’ Cross Country teams for their great performances at the MAC Conference meet last week. All the athletes ran very well and represented West with pride. Both Fresh/Soph teams finished 8th, the JV Boys finished 6th, the Varsity girls finished 7th, and the Varsity boys finished 3rd. Big congratulations to Andrew Wright for being named to the All-MAC 1st team and Coach Marty Leal for being named the MAC Boys Cross Country Coach of the Year. Great job and good luck this week at Districts. Let’s go to State! Coach Rietz
