Attention everyone in the Variety show. There has been a change in practice times. Today’s practice will be from 2:05 to 3:30.
Congratulations to senior Amber Long. With her round of 106, she finished 10th overall at the 48-person Dewitt Invitational yesterday. Tomorrow the Varsity will travel to Duck Creek to compete in a 3 team nine-hole meet. Great job and good luck, ladies.
West High School has two 1st place Iowa Junior Duck Stamp winners in the tenth-twelfth-grade category. Congratulate junior Courtney Schaeffer and senior Katelyn Cox. The stamps are displayed on West’s web page.
There will be representatives from the Clinton Community College Graphics Arts Program presenting in the LMC on Friday, April 28th during 2nd block. This is for any student that is considering enrollment in an Art School after high school. To attend, students must have their second block teachers’ signatures on the permission slip. Permission slips are available in the office or from any art instructor at West High School.
Army JROTC Dream Team 2017 is putting together a care package. Come down to the Front Office and drop items into the drop box that will be sent to deployed soldiers.
Next Tuesday, the Drama Club will host auditions for the 2017-2018 Improv Team. Come to the auditorium on Tuesday, May 2nd, ready to play games, have fun, and perform. If you enjoy ComedySportz, Whose Line Is It Anyway, or just playing theatre games, we encourage you to audition. See Mrs. Koski if you have questions about joining the Improv Team. Eighth graders are also encouraged to attend. The auditions will be May 2nd, 3-5pm.
A reminder to all students: you cannot bring outside food or drinks into the building.
Attention any 9th graders interested in Saturday classes. This Saturday is Catch Up Day for Freshmen, (9AM to 11AM). Please see your teachers for further instructions. You must enter the building by the front door. The classes will be held in the Library. All students must be here no later than 9:15. If you arrive after that, you will not be able to enter the building.
Attention all boys wishing to play baseball for West High School this summer. Tryouts will be May 1st thru May 4th. Tryout times are:
8th Grade 4:30-5:45pm
9th Grade 5:30-6:45pm
10-12 Grade 6:15-8:15pm
You will need a current physical and Falcon Pass to try out. You can get all that info from Nicky in the Athletics Office.

Attention any current senior that has been accepted to college next year. The Family Museum in Bettendorf is looking for Summer interns in the Play Pals Summer Program for children. The internship is 18 hours per week from June through August and pays 9.10/hour. If interested see Mr. Hahn.
Marching Band Color Guard auditions will take place Saturday, April 29th from 8:30am-12:00pm in Band Room 518. No previous experience necessary. Auditions open to ALL West High students. Please wear tennis shoes and comfortable clothes. All past members hoping to return MUST audition. If planning to audition, please sign the sheet posted on the band room door.
Attention any student interested in the health care profession. West is offering the “CNA or Certified Nursing Assistant” course leading to Iowa certification. Students who complete the 1-term course at West and pass the Iowa State Certification Test will be eligible to work as a nursing assistant in health care facilities in Iowa. Students must be 16 years or older by the first day of the course and meet other dual enrollment eligibility requirements. If interested, see Mrs. Eckhardt for more information or your counselor to sign up for the class. There are a limited number of seats available each term next year, so don’t delay!
Attention any student interested in the profession of nursing. Genesis is offering an “Adventures in Nursing” week-long summer camp this July 10 – 14th. The fee for the camp is $150, but there are a limited number of scholarships available. If interested, see Mr. Hahn for a brochure.
Show Choir Auditions will be held the last week of April. Information about the auditions is available outside of the choir/orchestra and band rooms. Students auditioning need to prepare a short singing audition. Dance auditions will be held after school on Wednesday, April 26th. Auditions are open to any student who will be attending West High next year. We are looking forward to seeing and hearing you!!!!
Attention all Human Geography students. Exam study sessions are every Tuesday and Thursday until the exam. Study sessions are in Room 212 and will begin at 3:15. Bring your Chromebook and a friend.
Wilson’s PTA will be hosting their annual Fun Night on May 12th from 5:30 to 7:30. They are looking for volunteers to help run the games. If interested, see Ms. Eckhardt in Guidance to sign up.
Senior Class Picnic tickets are being sold in the Activities Office starting today for $10 each. If you purchased the official West High tie dye t-shirts, then you already have a ticket.
