4/29/2020 Senior students and parents:
As you may have heard, the DCSD Board of Education voted on and approved lowering the graduation requirements for the class of 2020 from 26 to 20 at Monday’s meeting due to the disruption caused by the COVID-19 pandemic. In addition, state requirements for specific coursework have been waived, meaning that 20 credits could have been amassed from any content area. We are working to assist with students who may still be credit deficient to develop plans for credit recovery and now have wifi hotspots available for senior students who have access difficulties.
With this news, we have been permitted to resume planning for numerous events that accompany a student’s senior year, including graduation announcement distribution, cap and gown distribution, yearbook distribution, and locker cleanout. Information about these pieces and other pertinent topics will be communicated by the end of next week.
We appreciate your continued patience and flexibility during these unprecedented times. I will assure you that we are doing everything we can to communicate as quickly and clearly as possible, and we will continue to do everything we can to assist you with any questions you may have.
Please be sure to stay tuned to eblasts, autodialers, social media outlets, and to the school and district websites for future updates.
