    iJAG Takes Halloween to Silvercrest

    Last week West iJAG students volunteered their time at Silvercrest Assisted Living Community. They worked on Halloween crafts with the residents. The students talked with them and had a great time painting pumpkins and making Halloween masks!

    The West Falcons had an AMAZING meet at the Regional Swim Meet held at Davenport Central High School on October 28th.  Courtney Schaeffer set a school record in the 50 Freestyle while taking 2nd at the Regional Meet; she qualified for state in the event.  Courtney WON the 100 Freestyle with an automatic qualification for state swimming.  Courtney was also named Regional Athlete of the Year. She will receive a plaque at the State Swim Meet this weekend.

    Two West iJAG Students Are Going to DC

    Alicia Long and Ryne Schroeder

    Ryne Schroeder and Alicia Long went to Des Moines to compete for a spot to the Nationals Student Leadership Academy in Washington, DC, with the iJAG program. Twenty-nine students competed, and 16 won spots to DC. Two of them are Falcons!  Ryne will be working with three other students from across Iowa to present a PBL (Project Based Learning) unit that we do in iJAG. Alicia will be competing in the Employability Skills competition.
    West and Davenport will be well represented by these two students. Go Falcons!
