On Wednesday, March 15, 2017, Mr. Achs’ economics class at West High helped those in need by making 140 sandwiches for St. Anthony’s Care and Share Program in downtown Davenport. The program began in 1985 when then pastor Fr. Kenneth Martin set aside funds from the weekly parish collection to aid the poor and needy in honor of St. Anthony, patron saint of the poor. To facilitate food distribution, Father Conroy opened what became known as the McAnthony Window at the rear of the rectory, which feeds over 200 homeless and needy persons five days per week.
This is the 3rd time this year that Mr. Achs’ students have supported St. Anthony’s Care and Share Program.
