    FIRST League Tournament in DeWitt

    The Combustible Lemons and Mortal Combots competed in the League Tournament in DeWitt over the weekend. Both teams made the elimination rounds as an alliance pick and made it to the finals. They faced off in best 2 of 3 matches.  The first match was a tie and the Mortal Combots ended up winning 2-1.  The Mortal Combots also won the Rockwell Collins Innovate Award.  The Combustible Lemons finished as robot runner-up and the INSPIRE Award Winners!  The INSPIRE Award is the highest award that a team can win in robotics.  Both teams advanced to the Super Qualifier which will take place on February 11th at Pleasant Valley High School.  Congratulations, to both teams and their advisers.


    West’s 10-Minute Play Festival


    Congratulations to the cast and crew of the 10-Minute Play Festival. On January 26 and 27, over 40 students worked together and  produced plays written by sophomore Caitlin Bauer, freshman Maesi Geigle, junior Alexander Hamilton, senior Ben Heirigs, sophomore Preston Jackson, and staff members Kristin Koski and Jordan Strickland.

    West High’s WINGs Attends “Love Your Body” Workshop


    On Thursday, February 26, the West High School WINGs girls, led by Mrs. Iavarone, attended the Saint Ambrose University “Love Your Body” workshop sponsored by Junior League of the Quad Cities and the SAU Triotta Club. The girls learned the importance of working on a solid inner core, learned strategies to cope with negativity through social media, and learned how to be a positive force for themselves and those around them.
