    West’s Cross Country Status

    cross country dw logoPam Friede was the runner of the week. She was our top finisher and has shown tremendous improvement from last year. Andrew Wright kept right on going from track season and running at AAU Nationals; he was the boy runner of the week, finishing first for West as he begins his quest to qualify for state. Tyler Gerdts ran with his service dog for the first time in competition and did very, very well.  Great job, runners.

    West’s Girls’ Swim Team Beats Clinton 126 to 50!


    swim dwThe Girls’ Swim Team continues to impress the coaches and fans. After an extremely challenging week of practice in the pool, weight room, track, and even Kosama, the girls were tired but had the best swims of their lives.  The ladies won every event in a commanding fashion.  As a matter of fact, most events the girls earned second place as well.  The overall score: Varsity West 126 Clinton 50.  Individual event winners: Maddie McCabe, Mackenzie Evans, Maddie Harland, Kassie Remley, Anna Arvanitis, Meghan Pierce, Claire Straetker, Kara Thobe and Courtney Schaeffer.

    The swimmer of the meet was Freshman Kara Thobe. Kara won the first varsity event win in the 100 backstroke.  Kara also dropped three seconds from her lifetime best in the 100 free.   Way to go, Falcon Swimmers!
