    West’s Student Senate Takes 2nd Place in Hunger Drive Skit Competition

    Food Driv e SkitWest High’s Student Senate competed in the Hunger Drive Kick-off  Skit competition at the new Riverbend Food Bank facility.  Out of 13 schools participating, West took 2nd place.  Students came up with original lyrics to “We Will We Will Rock You,” accompanied by drummers using buckets decorated as canned goods.  It was awesome!  Click here for more pictures.

    Annalise Buehner has been named a Commended Student in the 2015 National Merit Scholarship Program.  Commended Students placed in the top five percent of more than 1.5 million students who entered the 2015 competition by taking the 2013 Preliminary SAT/National Meric scholarship Qualifying Test.  Annalise has demonstrated outstanding potential for academic success.  Congratulations, Annalise.

    West’s Boys’ Golf Team played at the Greyhound Invitational on Thursday, September 25, 2014.  Jordan placed 4th overall in the 72–player field at the Grayhound Invitational.  Nice!  Click here for more photos.

     

    West Connection Performs @ Preventing Lost Potential Day

    On Friday, September 19, members of West’s Varsity Show Choir, West Connection, performed as part of the HAVlife Foundation’s Preventing Lost Potential Day celebration. HAVlife’s mission is “To Prevent Lost Potential™ of youth through support of participation in athletics, music, and the arts.” Many students from our district benefit from HAVlife’s hard work.     On Friday, September 19, 2014, West students, military veterans, jROTC, and band and chorus members gathered to pay their respects to prisoners of war and soldiers still classified as missing in action.  Mr. Lawler spoke about the debt we owe those who have fought to keep America strong and free. It was a ceremony of respect and somber celebration.
