West High’s Business Academy’s Leadership Training

Sixty West High Business Academy students experienced a leadership training this week at West Lake Park. Wapsi River Environmental Education Center staff members led the students in various team-building exercises, a water safety training,  and canoeing and kayaking activities.  Mrs. Saladino, Mr. Verdon, Mr. Tollefson, Ms. Soedt, Ms. Hall, and Ms. Tangen were the faculty accompanying the students.

A new offering from the Davenport Schools Foundation scholarship program this year will be the West High Music Scholarship, a $1000 award to be presented next spring to a senior who has participated in music programs all four years of high school.

This scholarship is being made possible by a gift from Mr. John Wiese of Davenport. His late wife, Hanae Fujiwara Wiese, was a music teacher in Davenport Schools for many years. She passed away in 2004. He and his family are providing this funding as a tribute to Hanae and her students.

Mr. Wiese is also challenging the families of West High musicians to help raise $1000 to double the number of scholarship recipients—one boy and one girl. Please send donations to the Davenport Schools Foundation c/o Norm Bower, ASC, 1606 Brady Street, Davenport, IA 52803. Make checks payable to DSF with “West Music Scholarship” on the subject

    Congratulations to West Teacher

Ms. Price has been selected as the Intermediate and High School Math Coach for DCSD.  Sorry to lose you, but happy for your success.
