Washington's Butterfly Garden

Washington's butterfly garden is located along the front of the school.  It was initially begun several years ago under the guidance of our retired, second grade teacher, Mrs. Martha Peterson.  Through donations (time, money, and plants), a small grant, and lots of elbow grease, the ground was treated and plants planted.

During the spring of 2002, Washington received a Great Mind's Grant to rejuvenate the garden.  Aunt Rhodies Nursery supplied the manpower and new plants:  azaleas, solidago, rose queen salvia, coneflowers, obediant plants, blackberry lilies, astors, bee balm, rhododendrons, a Japanese peony, and more.  Stop in for an ever-changing view (and help yourself to pull a few weeds)!
