|COVID RETURN TO SCHOOL REQUIREMENTS
High Risk Symptoms:
Shortness of breath or difficulty breathing
New loss of taste or smell
Low Risk Symptoms:
Muscle and Body Aches
If a student exhibits symptoms, while at school or at home, we will follow the recommendation of IDPH and the Department of Education.
If a student is called in absent or sent home with one high risk or two or more low risk symptoms of COVID that cannot be explained by a pre-existing health condition (asthma, allergies, cyclic vomiting, etc.), the family should be advised to seek evaluation by a healthcare provider.
The student must stay home until one of these criteria are met:
Negative COVID test and fever-free for 24 hours without use of medication and symptoms improving OR
A note from provider stating that student has alternate diagnosis and may return to school (the provider does not have to share the actual diagnosis) OR
Symptoms with no test or no doctor note or Positive COVID test – must stay out 10 days and fever-free for 24 hours without use of medication and symptoms improving
We are sending students home with fever or vomiting or diarrhea because that is our policy regardless of COVID, but these are low risk COVID symptoms, so if they only have one of these symptoms, they can be back after 24 hours without fever, nausea, and vomiting.
Please call the school health office if you have any questions. We are here to help and support!
