The mission of Walcott School is to empower our students to lead, to participate, to become productive members of a diverse society, and to develop respect for each other and their environment.
The teachers at Walcott School will provide students with educational opportunities that help them become life-long learners and productive members of their community. Walcott teachers appreciate the importance of parents, students, local businesses, faculty and administrators working together to form the school community necessary to provide meaningful learning.
1. Every person has an equal right to educational opportunities which accommodate their physical, social, emotional, and intellectual interests.
2. Students and staff have a right to a safe and secure school environment.
3. Quality in education must not be compromised because of lack of resources.
4. Every student has the potential to learn, but each at different rates and in different ways.
5. Each person has intrinsic worth, and therefore should be treated with dignity.
6. Public education is an active partnership among the school, the student, the home, and the community.
7. Self-discipline is a prerequisite for the development of higher order thinking skills and the potential lifelong learning.
