Library"What a school thinks about its library is a measure of what it thinks about education." - Harold Howe, former Commissioner of Education The mission of the library media program is to ensure that students and staff are effective users of ideas and information. It’s amazing what an effect a mere 20 minutes a night can have on reading and writing skills!! Reading/Technology CornerMarch 14, 2008 -
Reading ProgramNovember 3, 2006 - Our new reading program includes quite a bit of rhyming word practice. This is helpful to primary students because they are able to build more vocabulary if they learn a whole group of words with the same vowel and ending sounds at one time. A website that reinforces this skill of rhyming is http://www.iknowthat.com. There are a lot of ads on this website, but once you get to the language arts section, students will find practice on rhyming words that is very complete and includes the pronunciation of the word and its use in a sentence. You do not have to register on this website to use it. Another website that the fourth and fifth graders have found interesting is about the United States map. It can be found at this address: http://bensguide.gpo.gov/flash/states_game2.html Barb Hill, Truman Media Specialist |
