Welcome to the Music Room.  WOW!  We are having a great time with our MIMIO interactive white board.  You can find out more about this by going to www.mimio.com 

The software is a FREE download.  Ask your student how they have used the MIMIO in class.

We also welcome Student Teacher, Sara Bourassa from Luther College.  She will be with us until December 17th.

Curriculum/Strategies:

The National Standards for Music Education

National Standard #1: Singing, alone and with others, a varied repertoire of music.
National Standard #2: Performing on instruments, alone and with others, a varied repertoire of music.
National Standard #3: Improvising melodies, variations, and accompaniments.
National Standard #4: Composing and arranging music within specified guidelines.
National Standard #5: Reading and notating music.
National Standard #6: Listening to, analyzing, and describing music.
National Standard #7: Evaluating music and music performances.
National Standard #8: Understanding relationships between music, the other arts, and disciplines outside the arts.
National Standard #9: Understanding music in relation to history and culture.

3rd, 4th and 5th graders continue to work on reading music and the symbols needed. (Standards 1, 5)The 5th grade will be doing more District Assessments which will be reported separately to you. K-2 continue to work on singing together and using Active Listening. (Standards 1, 2, 5, and 6)

3rd – 5th grade please check for study guides and tests to coming home.

Mid Quarter Reports for students currently not meeting grade level expectations will be sent home the week of November 16, 2009.  Don’t hesitate to contact me with any questions.
