Introduction: 

Welcome to Ms. Collins’s/N4’s web page.  There are currently 21 third grade friends registered in our classroom community.  School begins each day at 8:00 a.m.  Students are considered tardy at 8:15 a.m.  I am looking forward to partnering with you all during this next school year.  Please check back periodically as this page will be updated throughout the year.   

Curriculum/Strategies:

Reading: It is important that your child be reading a minimum of 20 minutes per day throughout the third grade year.  I also encourage you to listen to your child read out loud so you have a sense of what his/her fluency rate is along with his/her ability to read with expression.  Your child’s first reading assessment (Benchmark A) will be given sometime during the first two weeks of September.  Keep an eye out in the planner for a specific start date. 

Math:  Your child will be tested every 5 to 6 days after having completed a specific math topic.  To start the year, your child should continue practicing/learning basic addition and math facts.

Classroom Events: 

Library is every Wednesday.

Monday, September 7^th is Labor Day…NO SCHOOL.
September 24^th-25^th …CONFERENCES…NO SCHOOL.
