Introduction

Our 2nd grade classroom community consists of 18 students.  Over Winter Break we had two students move.  We continue working every day on procedures and building community within the classroom.

Curriculum/Strategies:

In 2nd grade reading, the emphasis is on improving our accuracy and fluency.  This is why it is so important to monitor your child’s reading homework.  Fifteen minutes of reading homework per night is a requirement.  This should be done with an adult.  Reading packets come home every Monday in the homework folder.  These are to study from all week for our tests on Friday.  The packets also help keep us focused on what we need to think about and look for when we read.

Science – We will be working on Too Good For Drugs and Air and Weather.

Social Studies – We will have Junior Achievement and Maps & Globes.
