Elementary Report Cards

In an ongoing effort to continue to improve communication between students, parents and schools, the Davenport Community Schools is introducing new report cards for elementary grades K-5.  These new report cards were piloted in selected elementary schools throughout the district last year.

The new format is based on learning standards the district has for grades K-5 linked in column 2 of the table below.  An assessment system of Exceeds, Meets, Needs Improvement, or X – not applicable at this time – E M N X – will be used to indicate student progress on the learning standards in each of the academic areas.

Full sets of sample report cards are available at each of the elementary buildings or you can also click one of the links in column 1 of the table below. All files are in PDF format..

In addition, you can click to review the Frequently Asked Questions Document regarding this change or click to review an informational Standards-based Reporting PowerPoint presentation about the process.

Teachers will be prepared to share samples of the new report cards and provide information on the learning standards at upcoming conferences.

The district realizes that parents are very concerned with understanding their child’s progress in school and knowing how to best help their student succeeds.  Report cards are one tool in supporting the communication needed between student, parents and teachers to create this connection.
