SUBJECT I TEACH= 6th Grade Language Arts and Reading
HOBBIES=I enjoy cooking and experimenting with new recipes, especially
from different cultures. I love to read and spend time with my family. We like to try new
restaurants and take vacations or day trips. Shopping is a worthwhile pastime too. I
create scrapbooks for special events and for my family and I decorate cakes.
THE COLLEGE I WENT TO=Western Illinois University
WHY I BECAME A TEACHER=I became a teacher because I love kids! I love
to teach and I love to learn and teaching is the best way to incorporate those things. I
also chose it because as a career it's very compatible to family life so I'm able to give
my family the time we need. June, July, and August aren't so bad either!
SPECIAL ACTIVITIES=
CLASSROOM RULES AND POLICIES=My number one classroom policy is the
Golden Rule: Do unto others as you would have them do unto you. Basically that means to
treat people like you want to be treated. If everyone did that the world would be a really
great place. I also believe in respect and tolerance for others. Inappropriate language is
unacceptable in my classroom. Words like shutup or stupid don't foster an atmosphere of
respect.
A FUNNY JOKE=I don't know any funny jokes. I can never remember them
long enough to tell someone else.
IF I HAD A MILLION DOLLARS=This is easy. If I won a million dollars I'd
buy or build a huge house. Then I would become a certified foster parent. My home would
become a foster home for kids in need. My husband might get a new set of golf clubs out of
the deal.
WHERE I'D LIKE TO GO ON VACATION=I would go to the Holy Lands. I think
it would be awesome and very faith inspiring.
MY HERO=I have a lot of people I admire and think of as role models for
different aspects of my life: Jesus Christ, my parents, my husband, Mother Theresa are
just a few.
SOMETHING THAT BUGS ME=My number one pet peeve is people who throw
their cigarette butts out their car window. People who litter are lazy and
disrepectful. I
wish littering laws were strictly enforced and tougher.
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION= My husband's name is
Nick. We have three children; Emily, Nathan, and Clare. We grew up in Moline and
Rock Island but moved to San Antonio, Texas when we got married. We moved back to Illinois
shortly after Emily was born. You can't replace being close to family.
