The Davenport
Community School District is proud to announce
that the Davenport School Board of Directors
as well as the Davenport Schools Foundation
received a 2009 Governor’s Volunteer
Award for outstanding contributions of
volunteer service in our community. The
Governor’s Volunteer Awards program has been in
existence since 1982 and continues to recognize
community volunteers who go above and beyond to
make Iowa a better place to live. Both the
Davenport Schools Foundation as well as the
Davenport School Board of Directors give
countless hours to their causes; members are not
compensated and graciously attend meetings,
events and other school activities throughout
the year.
In a letter from Governor Culver, he states,
“The devotion of volunteers like you helps Iowa
consistently remain in the top 10 states in the
nation for its volunteerism rate. Thank you for
contributing your time, dedication, and talent
to make a tremendous difference in our state!”
