Meetings of the Davenport Community School Board are held to conduct the business of the Davenport Community Schools, which serve the communities of Blue Grass, Buffalo, Davenport, and Walcott.

Regular meetings of the School Board usually are held at 7 p.m. on the second and fourth Mondays of the month. These meetings are held in the third-floor Jim Hester Board Room of the Davenport Schools Administration Service Center at 1606 Brady St.

The regular business meetings are televised from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. Wednesdays on Mediacom Cable Channel 19.

The School Board also conducts committee-of-the-whole meetings at 5 p.m. on the first Monday of the month, often in one of the district’s schools. At these meetings, board members discuss a variety of topics but do not vote or take any final action.

School Board meetings, including discussions and actions, are conducted in open session. The School Board only convenes in closed session, as provided by the Iowa Open Meetings Law, to discuss such things as personnel evaluations, litigation, real estate purchases, and student expulsions.

Citizen interest in Davenport Community School Board proceedings is appreciated and valued.

Citizens are welcome to address the board during open forum and pre-arranged presentations.

• Open Forum – Complete an open forum request form found at the back of the meeting room and submit to the board secretary, seated directly behind the board table. Please do this before the meeting begins.
• Pre-arranged Presentations – Persons desiring to make a presentation should submit a written request to the board secretary no later than 12 days prior to the meeting: Linda Smith Kortemeyer, School Board Secretary, Davenport Community Schools, 1606 Brady St., Davenport, IA 52803. • Plan to limit your comments to approximately two minutes.
• Be aware that answers and solutions may not be addressed immediately. Many times, requests or concerns will need to be referred by the board to district employees for follow-up.
