Board Goal 2007-2008GOAL: The Davenport
School Board will actively support the efforts of
the superintendent, district staff, and families to
ensure continuous student achievement for all
students.
To that end, we establish the following objectives
and priorities:
Objectives
- Expect all students to make a minimum of one
year’s growth in reading, math, and science as
measured by the Iowa Growth Model.
- Ensure small class sizes are maintained to
enhance the learning environment as set by Board
Policy #603.01 Class Size.
- Improve communications efforts that will
cultivate awareness, parental involvement, and
participation with business groups.
- Evaluate and analyze board processes to find
the best methods to improve board effectiveness
and efficiency.
- Coordinate strategic and tactical
legislative advocacy to provide opportunities to
influence decision-makers in order to enhance
public education in Iowa.
- Develop a long-range vision for the future
using community input that captures the passion
of everyone in the District.
- Create a superintendent evaluation
instrument using new criteria developed by the
State and conduct required assessment sessions.
Priorities
- Provide more opportunities to strengthen
early childhood education.
- Assess the effects of the bullying
policy on school climate and the influence
implementation has had on middle school
culture.
- Hold the superintendent accountable for
ensuring the administrative performance
evaluations, created for the purpose of
improving student achievement, are fully
practiced throughout the district.
- Periodically review achievement data and
discuss progress made to provide assistance
and programs for children at all levels.
- Quarterly evaluate belief statements
developed by the Board against the work
being accomplished to improve student
achievement.
