GOAL: The Davenport School Board will actively support the efforts of the superintendent, district staff, and families to ensure continuous student achievement for all students.

To that end, we establish the following objectives and priorities.

Objectives

• Students will make consistent gains in reading, math, and science as measured by the Iowa Test of Basic Skills.
• Small class size will be maintained to enhance the learning environment.
• Partnerships with business and community groups will be cultivated to enhance educational opportunities.
• Improved communications efforts will raise community awareness and parental involvement.
• Evaluation and analysis of board processes will improve Board effectiveness and efficiency.
• Strategic and tactical legislative advocacy will provide opportunities to influence decision-makers to enhance public education in Iowa.

Priorities

• Provide opportunities to strengthen early childhood education
• Improve school climate with an emphasis on middle schools.
• Support the establishment of a constructive performance evaluation system and hold the superintendent accountable for its implementation.
• Coordinate strategic and tactical legislative advocacy opportunities in cooperation with other school districts.
• Develop a long-range vision for the future that captures the passion of everyone in the District.
