Administrative Regulation 506.07ASTUDENTS
Social Security Numbers
Two different student identification numbers are assigned to
each Davenport student: 1) a 5-digit "Student ID" number; and 2) a
9-digit "Academic History" number.
STUDENT ID NUMBER : The 5-digit
student ID number is assigned randomly from a supply of numbers. The number is
assigned when the student first enrolls in the district. Every effort is made to
eliminate the possibility of duplicate numbers for students ages 4 through 21.
Student ID numbers are recorded on all computer generated documents where
students’ positive identify is crucial, i.e., class lists, schedules, grade
reports, attendance documents, standardized tests and assessments.
ACADEMIC HISTORY NUMBER: The
9-digit academic history number is assigned when a student enrolls for the first
time in the district. The use of the student’s Social Security Number is
strongly encouraged since the academic history number will be maintained in
perpetuity to identify the academic history of each student and duplicate
numbers cannot be tolerated. When the SSN is not available the district assigns
a 9-digit number.
