Administrative assignment is based on the desire to
match the talents, skills and career goals to the
administrator with the needs of the district.
Factors such as certification, experience and
expertise are taken into consideration.
Administrative assignment is not intended to be
restricted to any particular level or group of
administrators, but includes all administrators in
the district.
Administrators are encouraged to seek new challenges
in administrative responsibilities. Voluntary
movement is therefore encouraged where it is in the
interest of the district and the individual
administrator. The opportunity to take on new
challenges and serve the district in areas requiring
new approaches and expertise is the basis of
administrative assignment.
Opportunities in addition to reassignment within the
district may include:
-
Exchange programs, opportunities with higher
education, industry, public and private
foundations, governmental units, and other school
districts. The purpose of the exchanges would be
that of improving instructional programs of
students in our district.
-
Opportunity to return to the classroom so as to
gain new experience or be a part of a new program.
A
"time span" of from six to nine years is deemed as a
reasonable guideline for service on one assignment.
Any time within that "time span" an administrator
can expect to have another assignment.
Movement initiated by the administrator is possible
before the above "time span" is reached, subject to
review and approval of the chief executive officer.
In
the judgment of the chief executive officer,
assignment may take place at any time.
Examples of conditions that could temporarily affect
the assignment of an individual:
-
An
ongoing self-study (evaluation) that would be in
progress in a given school.
-
Curriculum
study or field-testing of a program that would not
be completed with a written report finalized.
-
A
building project or addition that is not completed
and put into operation.
-
Any
other special consideration for that school or
administrator that the immediate supervisor and
chief executive officer feel would warrant
consideration.
