Our Teachers and Staff
Teachers and Para Educators
The Children’s Villages are staffed with certified teachers. All Teachers for the three, four, and five-year old classrooms have a minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree in Early Childhood Education and Early Childhood Special Education. All teachers in Statewide Voluntary Preschool classrooms have a minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education. Lead Para Educators for the infant and two-year old classrooms have a minimum of an Associate’s Degree in Early Childhood and/or a Bachelor’s of Science Degree in Education. Teacher Associates in all classrooms have a minimum of a Child Development Associate Credential (CDA) or an Associate’s Degree.
All teachers and teacher associates are certified in Pediatric First Aid, CPR and have received at least two hours of training in both child-abuse prevention and universal health precautions. Staff members also receive training annually for emergency evacuation procedures, and training on developmentally appropriate practices.
Head Start Family Liaisons
The District Liaison provides support to families. They provide information and referrals for programs and services; they also involve families in other activities including family socials, educational meetings, and Make-It/Take-It sessions.
Area Education Agency Staff
An AEA team consisting of a special education consultant, social worker, psychologist, an occupational therapist, a physical therapist and a speech pathologist are part of the staff at the Children’s Villages. They are available to work with children and families with identified developmental concerns.
