Program Goal: Provide nutritious, appetizing meals for students at a reasonable price in a pleasant environment.

The Child Nutrition Program offers nutritious breakfasts and lunches at every school building. Proper nutrition is fundamental for the success of academic programs. Our meals meet the new USDA Nutrition Standards, which requires the following:

  • Age-appropriate calorie limits
  • Larger servings of vegetables and fruits (students must take at least one serving)
  • A wider variety of vegetables, including dark green and red/orange vegetables and legumes
  • Fat-free or 1% milk (flavored milk must be fat-free)
  • More whole grains
  • Less sodium

The new requirements build on the work we have already been doing to provide more fruits, vegetables, whole grains and healthier main dishes in our cafeteria. Now is a great time for students to choose school lunch! Check out the “Meal Requirements” tab to learn more.

School meals are economical, often costing less than what you spend to prepare meals at home.  The Food & Nutrition Services Department strives to keep the meal prices low while maintaining quality and nutritional standards.  The larger portions and more variety increase the cost of meals to older students.

Unflavored milk is available in 1% fat and skim. Fat-free chocolate milk is offered daily. The half pint cartons may be purchased for $ .50 per carton.

Charge Policy
Although meals and milk can be purchased daily, prepayment for 5, 10 or 20 days is encouraged.  Students are less likely to forget money or run out and it is more convenient for parents.  Charging/credit meals are not allowed for secondary students.  Cashiers will verbally remind the students when the account is low.

For elementary students, a reminder notice or low balance notice will be sent home with the child.   The Superintendent approved elementary charge policy is:

The following Food and Nutrition Service Policy is for elementary students who do not have money in their accounts for meals:

Student will be allowed to receive a menu lunch up to three days and must repay the cost of the lunches,  If the meals are not repaid promptly, the student will receive a substitute meal of the alternate entree and a carton of milk.  The student must pay the cost of the milk for the substitute meal.

If there are charges on the elementary student’s account, any money sent will be applied to the charges before being used for the current day’s meal.

Free and reduced price meal applications
Free and reduced price meal applications are available at any school cafeteria, school office or the Food & Nutrition Services Office.  Applications cannot be accessed through this website because they are printed with a special red scanable ink. The application can be completed at almost anytime throughout the school year.  The reduced price breakfast is $.30 and the reduced price lunch is $ .40 for all grade levels.  Free or reduced priced meals cannot be provided unless the family has an approved application completed in a timely fashion. If your child(ren) qualifies for free or reduced price meals, you may also be eligible for other benefits.
