 Instrumental Music Department
The NHS Instrumental Music Department is a diverse gruop of performing enssembles, capable of performing a wide range of styles for many differnt occasions. Opportunities for performance include formal concerts, school events, as well as entertainment at social events. North instrumental students consistently perform at high levels due to their individual commitment and quality of training in all ensemble work.

Vocal Music

The NHS Vocal Music Department is a highly diverse and exciting program that is dedicated to offering challenging musical opportunities for students at North High School. With four Concert Choir performances highlighting our year and an exciting Show Choir competition season mixed in, our student-performers are busy throughout the year.  The choirs sing varied styles of music from the Renaissance to Rock and Roll, and focus on the real life skills that are needed to work successfully in a large ensemble.  Basic music theory is emphasized in all choirs which lead to a solid foundation upon graduation.

 Drama
All School Play, Musical, Children's Theater, Children's Theater Workshop
The NHS Drama Department stress the educational value of theater arts and is committed to offering students interesting, challenging and enjoyable dramatic activities in which to participate. Experience is gained through after-school projects and through classes such as Introudction to Acting, Theater Performance, and Stagecraft. Students are taught skills and principals in technical theater as well as performance, and are expected to demonstrate those skils in productions.

Drama Club

Meetings are held in Room 750 on the 1st Thursday of every month.  Meetings begin at 2:45 p.m.
Students must be active members of Drama Club to participate in school productions. In addition to main-stage productions,  Drama Club students participate in theater workshops and are responsible for the annual Children's Theater Workshop. Drama Club members are also encouraged to participate in community theater opportunities.

Thespians

North High School is a proud member of International Thespians, an honor organization for theater arts. Troupe 3994 actively participates in the Iowa State Thespian Festival held each November, as well as the International Thespian Festival held at th University of Nebraska each June.
