| Davenport North High School was selected as one of twenty Iowa
High schools to participate in this project supported by the Iowa
Department of Education and the International Center for the Leadership
in Education (ICLE). North submitted a proposal with building
achievement data detailing their commitment dealing with improved
student achievement efforts as evidenced by High Schools That Work
(HSTW) best practices currently in place throughout their building.
As their Comprehensive School Reform grant is ending in December 2006,
North wanted support to sustain and continue their reform effort to
improve student achievement. The Iowa High School Project concentrated
focus on struggling learners. this three year support initiative will
help grow improvement efforts focusing on struggling learners using the
Rigor and relevance framework. Recent findings from the ICLE suggest
that a directed focus on struggling learners can have a far reaching
positive impact on the overall effectiveness to improve teaching and
learning in high schools. |
