2007- 2008 Testing

ACT: Most colleges will require an ACT score upon application for admission.  ACT is a curriculum-based test that measures skill in English, math, reading and science reasoning.  There is an optional writing assessment that students may wish to take.  The guidance office has a limited supply of registration packets.  Students may also register online at www.act.org.

SAT: A few colleges and scholarships require an SAT score.  The SAT I measures verbal and math reasoning abilities that develop over time.  SAT II subject tests measure knowledge and the ability to apply that knowledge.  The guidance office has a limited supply of registration bulletins.  Students may register online at www.collegboard.com.

PSAT:  The PSAT test is offered to college-bound sophomores and juniors as a first step on the road to college.  The test gives you the opportunity to

v     practice for the SAT test

v     assess your skills in verbal reasoning, math reasoning and writing

v     enter scholarship competitions

v     compare your academic skills with other students considering college
