Parent Involvement |
|
We encourage parents to become involved from the very beginning of the school year. This helps parents and teachers establish a positive and productive relationship.
Unpack your Backpack Monroe Elementary hosts an Unpack your Backpack prior to the start of the year. This enables parents and children to meet their teacher and begin developing supportive relationships.
Title I Monroe Elementary is a Title I school. In order to guarantee student success, partnerships among the school and parents is essential. At Monroe, we recognize the importance of involving parents in the education of their children. Each year an annual meeting is held to explain Title I and all parents are encouraged to attend. Parental input continues to guide the planning of the parent involvement programs throughout the school year. Parental support of our school and teachers is critical to our efforts to provide a quality education for our students.
We encourage our parents, students and teachers to sign the Title I compact. The school compact outlines how parents, students, teachers and administrators will be responsible for supporting student learning.
Our Title I Family Liaison works to provide opportunities for parent and family engagement in the school. Everyone is always welcome at Monroe.
Parent Resource Center Our parent resource center provides parents with information, resources and literature to help support their child’s education. It is open for parents to use on a daily basis. Parents are encouraged to visit the Parent Resource Center and check out materials of their choice.
Parent Teacher Conferences Formal parent teacher conferences are scheduled for the fall to provide parents with information about their child’s academic progress and the proficiency level of their child. Conferences can be held anytime a parent or teacher would like to set up a meeting to discuss the child.
Dad’s Club The Davenport Associated Dad’s Club mission is to develop and deliver quality youth sports programs through the involvement of local schools and volunteers dedicated to building character through participation in a fun, family environment.
The Monroe Dad’s Club meets at 5:00 on the first Monday of each month in the conference room. Dad’s Club strives to provide support to the school through family fun nights, read and feed activities, Red Ribbon activities, quarterly book distribution and student sports. |
