Our third graders attended the 2006 Mississippi Valley Quilt Show at the Mississippi Valley Fair Grounds on September 15.
Quashaun Blanks said, “It was fun. The quilts had different patterns.” Heaven Williams answered,  “I liked the flower quilt” whereas Chase liked the nine patch quilt. Mr. Gibbs mugs for the camera!Christian Fogel  replied, “I liked it. We found all the patterns.” Kaytlyn Karman said  “You couldn’t touch the quilts. I liked the shoefly and flower basket quilts.” “It was cool with a lot of stuff for sale and a sewing machine,” said Omar Quez. Hunter Kendall “It was fun and good to look at the quilts and vote for the best quilt.” De’Vonte Bell thoughts were “The machines are nice and the quilts had nice designs.” Lew Davis said,  “The string in the quilting machine is different colors.” “I like the pink quilts and I have seen a lot of quilts” replied Alycya Fleetwood. Cool students! Chris Olson said, “You have to wear gloves to touch the quilts so you don’t get oil on them.”
It was wonderful to have so many volunteers along. Monroe couldn’t go on  some study trip without the support of our volunteers. Here is what some of  them though about the quilt show. “It was beautiful” expressed Elisa Lirs’s mother. Makayla Kuhrt’s mother added “Lots of different colors-very colorful”. Tina Olson (Chris Olson’s mother) replied “It was fun. The kids had fun trying to find the patterns”
